This was a story I wrote based on a situation that happened in my life and adapted into fiction.
The best stories and characters come from real-life events.

Mr. Miguel felt powerless for the first time in his life. A Bowie knife had impaled his dominant hand into his large oak desk, and his black powder Colt Walker pistol lay just out of reach. Unfortunately, he is not the hero of this or his own story.
A man of unremarkable size and stature sat in a broken wooden chair. The dead and broken gigantic bodies of Mr. Miguel’s highly paid, inept henchmen surrounded him. A man with nothing to lose is the most dangerous person on God’s green earth. The Amsterdam Kid was around 5 foot 8. He wore a plaid shirt, a leather waistcoat with twin holsters on his belt, black trousers, and cowboy boots.
The kid lit a match on the bottom of his cowhide boots and used it on a cigar he had found in a box on Mr. Miguel’s desk. He sucked on it until black smoke started flowing towards the desk and the roof. The kid grabbed the Colt Walker pistol.
“Is this what you are trying to reach for?” he said as he laughed.
